Bolton Wanderers are on the verge of offering Stenhousemuir midfielder James McKenzie a trial at the Reebok Stadium but could face competition from other clubs to land the player with both Dumbarton and Boston United also keen.
The 23-year old has extensive experience in the lower leagues north of the border having served the likes of Albion Rovers, Cowdenbeath, Raith Rovers and Partick Thistle prior to his move to Ochilview Park.
However nothing is likely to be decided until The Warriors find a successor to their manager John McVeigh who parted with the club by mutual consent along with his assistant Andy Smith earlier in the week.
