Bolton vice captain Gary Speed has signed a new contract with the club after taking the option of a further year.
Speed joined Bolton from Newcastle United in a £750,000 deal last summer and the former Wales international has agreed a 12-month extension to his current contract after establishing himself as a key member of the Bolton squad.
"Gary has agreed an extension with us for another year after this one," said Allardyce.
"He is still one of the fittest footballers around and we don't see his age as a problem at all."
Meanwhile, Bolton have been linked with Danijel Ljuboja of Paris St. Germain, Javi Venta of Villarreal and former Newcastle defender Oliver Bernard has been taken on trial for a week.
