The Wanderers search for a new striker has moved ever closer with Assistant Manager Phil Brown saying the club is hopeful of having a new goalscorer in place by the time Bolton visit Old Trafford to play Manchester United on August 16th.
A striker has been a main priority for Manager Sam Allardyce over the summer months and despite various knockbacks it now seems there has been progress in the search for new blood.
"It has been well documented that we have been looking for a goalscoring striker during the last few months. We are hopeful before the Manchester United game, that we can bring in a striker and possibly an additional two or three players" said Brown.
Trialists Ibrahim Ba and Fousenni Diawara where put through their paces in the second half of last nights friendly against Real Mallorca and if they do well against Olympiakos they could be added to the Bolton squad.
The Trotters coach praised the workrate of strikers Henrik Pedersen and Kevin Davies in the Mallorca friendly but stressed the need for more effort in front of goal.
"Henrik Pedersen and Kevin Davies got into some good positions and their work rate was good. However we didnt work their keeper enough and we failed to score on the odd occasion we managed to get through. This is the only disappointment about the Mallorca game, the shape of the team is good but the end product is still missing and that is something we are going to have to work on"
