The Trotters have posted scouts at Maccabi Netanya games in recent weeks and it is being claimed a deal could be struck for the 24 year old midfielder.
"Nothing is signed but I am certain that Tamir will be playing in England this winter, if not at Bolton then elsewhere," said the player's agent Pini Zahavi.
Cohen's father Avi had a spell with Liverpool in the 1980s and he is convinced his son is close to a deal with The Trotters.
"Tamir very much wants to play for Bolton and they are very interested. Nothing is signed but there is a basic agreement, said Cohen senior.
