The Liverpool forward was understood to have been lined up for a move to the Wanderers in a season long loan deal having fallen out of favour with new Anfield boss Rafa Benitez, but now it seems as if Malaga have stolen a march on the Trotters after the Spanish club secretary Manuel Ruiz held a three hour meeting with the Senegalese international on Thursday.
"Diouf was here and left Malaga almost convinced to sign for us. We would hope for a decision on Tuesday or Wednesday of next week" a Malaga spokesperson told the press
Missing out on the 23-year old will come as a huge disappointment for the Bolton manager Sam Allardyce who has already seen moves for top targets Henri Camara and Dwight Yorke fail over the past few weeks.
