"We have set ourselves a five-year target to have 40 per cent of the first team squad having come through the academy," he said.
"We've currently got four but we're looking to have 10 in a squad of 25 and we're working hard to try to achieve that.
"Looking at the past seven or eight years we can stand back and say we have achieved. We've produced four Premiership players one every two years and it has been cost effective when you look at it from a business point of view. But we can do better, and we will do better."
