Bolton Wanderers have been named in the Ecuadorian press as one of the clubs trailing striker Ivan Kaviedes.
Bolton have been linked with Kaviedes in the past along with Crystal Palace who signed the striker last season in a bid for Premiership survival.
The 27-year-old is still without a team despite exploring the new league in Qatar and after being released by Palace at the end of last season would jump at the opportunity to come back to the Premiership should he be given a chance by Bolton.
Meanwhile, Bolton defender Ricardo Gardner has lost his appeal for wrongful dismissal against Chelsea. He will miss the West Brom match on Sunday.
Bolton boss Sam Allardyce said "In Ricardo's case it wasn't a goalscoring opportunity."
"I would like to meet the panel and listen to their judgment call and how they came to that decision. I find it hard to accept."
