Bolton Wanderers have been handed a tough away tie in the next round of the Carling Cup as they make the short journey to Anfield where they will face the current League Cup holders Liverpool.
Wanderers will face the Merseysiders for the first time in the competition since the two clubs played in the final of the competition eight years ago in which the Reds won 2-1 thanks to a Steve McManaman double in what was to be Roy Evans only trophy as Liverpool manager.
The tie was drawn by former Bolton and Liverpool favourite Jason McAteer and will take place on the week commencing Monday 1st December 2003. Bolton defeated Gillingham 2-0 in the last round whilst Gerard Houllier's team overcame Blackburn Rovers 4-3 at Ewood Park to set up another North West derby.
