Wanderers Face Rovers Cup Test

Bolton Wanderers have been drawn up against local rivals Tranmere Rovers in the Third Round of the AXA sponsered FA Cup, the tie is to be played at Prenton Park on either the 3/4 January 2004.

The two sides have quite a rivalry going, the Merseysiders denied the Trotters promotion via the Play Offs in 1991 when a Chris Malkin goal was enough to get Rovers promoted to Division 1.

Then in 2000 the two clubs fought out a bad tempered league cup Semi Final in which Rovers won convincingly 4-0 over the two legs but their unsportsmanship was brought into question as the two managers became engulfed in a war of words.

Now managed by Brian Little, there is two divisions separating the two sides but the rivalry between the two sets of fans is always competitive and you can be sure that both sides will want to go all out to win the game.
