After Danny Welbeck had put the hosts in front, Gordon pulled off a superb 45th-minute save to prevent Knight from netting a close-range equaliser.
In the end Welbeck's goal proved to be the winner, but Davies feels that without Gordon's intervention, it might have been Bolton who emerged triumphant.
"I felt we deserved to take something from the game and had it not been for a world class save from Craig Gordon we could have," the Wanderers skipper told www.bwfc.co.uk.
"It was a top-drawer save and it came at a crucial point in the game. I think Zat had thought he'd scored but he's somehow managed to palm the ball over the crossbar.
"Had that gone in just before half time we would have been in the ascendancy and I would certainly have fancied our chances of going on to win the game."
