The midfielder moved to the Reebok Stadium on loan in January with the aim of improving his chances of playing for Slovakia at the World Cup, where he could face Group C opponents England.
But Weiss is unhappy that he has been restricted to a fringe role at Bolton and he wants to make his way back to City when his temporary move comes to an end.
Trotters boss Owen Coyle is eager to keep the 20-year-old on an extended loan, but that would now appear an unlikely scenario.
"I came to Bolton hoping to play a lot. I need to be playing to be sure of getting into the squad for the World Cup," he said in the Daily Star.
"I don't really know what will happen next season, but City want me back and I love playing for them so I think I'll be going back."
