Wigan V Bolton at The DW Stadium - Match Preview

Returning stars swell Wigan squad

Uwe Rosler has a number of Wigan players back available again as he takes charge of his first home game in a derby clash with Bolton.

The former Brentford manager opted to leave striker Grant Holt at home when Latics travelled to Slovenia for Thursday night's clash with Maribor in a bid to improve his fitness.

On-loan Manchester United forward Will Keane and centre-back Ivan Ramis were not eligible for the 2-1 defeat in the Europa League while James McClean served a European suspension.

There are still injuries for Rosler to contend with, though, as goalkeeper Ali Al Habsi (knee), Juan Carlos Garcia (ankle), Gary Caldwell and Shaun Maloney (both hip) remain sidelined.

Mark Davies could be included in Bolton's squad when they make the short trip to the DW Stadium.

The midfielder has not played for Wanderers since February due to a long-term knee injury but, on the back of two 60-minute-plus cameos in a friendly and for the club's Under-21 squad, hopes have been raised of a possible comeback for the first team this weekend.

Elsewhere, boss Dougie Freedman, a frequent advocate of squad rotation, must decide whether the likes of Jermaine Beckford and Neil Danns should be recalled, while Josh Vela, available for the first time since August following his recovery from a knee injury, could feature.

Knee injuries continue to keep goalkeeper Adam Bogdan, defender Joe Riley and midfielder Stuart Holden out, while full-back Marc Tierney (broken foot) is also sidelined.
