The Wanderers full back is understood to have suffered severe bruising to the shin and ankle but at least the injuries sustained have not revealed any fractures.
"Hopefully he'll make a reasonable quick recovery and there won't be much damage." Allardyce said.
Hunt is expected to miss Tuesday's Premiership clash with Tottenham Hotspur at the Reebok Stadium and also the game with Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park next weekend.
